Bond Proposition 1:
Description of work and costs:
High School #6 is estimated at $130 million due to its size (2,600 students) and rising construction costs in Central Texas. It is comparable to other schools being considered for construction in the next 2-3 years in neighboring districts. School will be located on Pearson Ranch Road. Round Rock High School is expected to reach 4,000 students in the next 5 years. The building, which will include a new wing this summer, can handle about 4,500 students when you consider the older buildings; however, we aim to keep schools under 2,600 students. This high school will alleviate the need for a High School #7 in the foreseeable future.
*Note the enrollment projection for RRHS was updated on 3/29/2017 to reflect the most recent demographics’ report.
Auditorium is included as a separate item because it will be a District facility used to host middle school and elementary school performances, similar to the auditoriums being built currently at Cedar Ridge and Stony Point. Building the auditorium now brings significant cost savings: $20,000,000
